Alternate mode is team fight which counts the total wins (blow-ups). Alongside new characters (with unique abilities) the player's goal is to collect as many gems as possible within the given time.

The formula stays the same as before and I didn't noticed any major change in gameplay neither in powerups. See how the different colored bombers behave themself and how the vilains behave is very nice.

The history telling is an upgrade really wellcome, but definitely not deep. If you like the games before this one than it will be fun. The game is what you could expect in terms of Bomberman. Not so much interesting in single player mode.
